I am doing a 31 day study on finding a refuge in God.  I hope that through these simple daily devotions we, together, will realize what an awesome God we serve who is worth trusting and worth loving.  Let’s go ladies  . . . .

Psalm 34:8 says that we are to taste and see how good God is and that we are blessed when we take refuge in God.  In my own personal life God has proven time and time again to be faithful and a blessing.  How sad that sometimes we wait until we are at our wits end before we turn to God.  We let the fears, burdens of life, and pressure push us to a near unbearable place.  Do you find yourself in a place where a drink from the “living” water would be welcomed.  Are you thirsty enough?  Have you gone to rationing your God, as if He would run out?  Hello!  His love and mercy are unlimited.

There are many who have tasted and found that God is good, and sweet, and satisfying.  Then they move on with life and forget all about how wonderful it was.  But Psalms is clear, blessed is the man who drinks and keeps drinking and does not forget.  Blessed is the man who keeps returning to the “living” water for comfort and healing.  “Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

God’s desire is that we would constantly be in need and desperate for Him — for the satisfaction that only He can bring.  If it only took drinking one time from this water we would go through the rest of our life and cease to see the value of our God.  We would never be able to fulfill the calling of being a worshipper of God.  We would become gods in our own minds.  But . . . God didn’t make us that way.  He wisely created us to be completely dependent on Him.  Just a touch from Him and we begin to have deep thirst for more of Him that grows with every moment we encounter Him.

Seize the moment, take a drink and let Him be the refuge that your soul longs for.
